GOD OF SALVATION

David Abankwah

READ: 1 Chronicles 16:35

God is my salvation and my glory: the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God.

-Psalm 62:7 | KJV

Once upon a time, there was a town which was noted for its riches and wealth. The history of this town was that, they used their kings for sacrifice so that there would be abundance of riches and wealth. Every king was sacrificed after seven years of reign, and no king knew of this secret. Why? This is because, no native was appointed as a king but foreigners only. But there was a certain king who got lucky because of his generosity and obedience. He was good to a certain elderly woman. This woman was not having any child, neither was she having any family member to cater for her.

This king took it upon himself to build a house for her, and assigned servants in her stead. He also made sure, she didn’t lack any good thing. This act pleased the woman and she called the king one day to her closet. She told her all the secrets of the town. This king knowing of this great evil ahead, prepared himself several months by learning how to swim in the deepest of the river where the sacrifice of the kings is done. When the time was due, they took the king to the river all in the name of cleansing.

When he was dipped into the river six times, he asked for rest because, that was part of the ritual. As he was resting, he told them if all the banks of the river to the other side of the lands were his and they answered in the affirmative. So he told them he wanted to try the waters before the seventh cleansing which was when the neck of the kings were broken inside the water. So they gave him the permission. As he entered the water, he dived so deep and began to swim under the waters. He went to the deepest part without the reach of the people and that was it.

They stood there waiting to see the king show up his head above the waters, till now, they didn’t see it, neither did they see his body. As they stood there blaming themselves for allowing the king to fool them, the king was so pleased by this woman as his god of salvation. God is like this elderly woman. He knows this world of evil more than us. All His words of danger are gazetted in the Bible. It is left for us to believe in His words and obey them in order to escape the eternal punishment He has reserved for sinners.

Stay Blessed
