CLOSET

READ: Philippians 4:8

But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly

Before man fell, God was man’s only Master Controller. In his closet, you will see God coming to Him without any hassle. Because of that, everything man was led to do in his closet was spiritual and godly as he was controlled to do the things of God. But after man fell, he yielded to Satan as another Master Controller. These two Masters have been in contention since until now. There is always two voices speaking to you. The voice of the Light Master Controller and the Dark Master Controller. There is no neutral point as far as these Masters are concerned.

They are always with you all the time, influencing what you think about, what you say and what you do. Even though the soul is tossed to and fro by these forces, you normally find yourself doing the Master who owns you. No slave can be owned by two masters. So you are either owned by God or Satan but not both. Even if you do evil partly and good partly, you are either for One Master. The metre that checks the reading of your spiritual slavery of these Masters is your CLOSET. There are two closets: Physical and spiritual. Physical closet is the surrounding around your body where no one is found.

What do you do when no one is around? Do you watch pornography or masturbate? Do you fornicate or lie. What do you do when your Pastor or church member is not around? What do you do when you are not in church? There is no Christian in the church building. A Christian is the One who is godly or spiritual in his closet. That is who a Christian is. You can put on a show, or make everyone notice that you are a Christian publicly, but, what do you do when no one is around? Even if you are not hygienic physically, God will not get close to you (Deuteronomy 23:13-14)

You have not swept your room for three days, but you want God to come into your room? You are joking. You think God is a God of filth? No wonder when you pray God doesn’t answer. Cleanliness is next to Godliness, they say, is true. Spiritual closet is the mind and heart. God will judge us by the things we think about and what we devise in our hearts. There are Christians who are righteous but are not holy. Righteousness is the life we practise outside the body and holiness is what we practice in the mind and heart. If you are not holy (right in the mind and heart) too, you can’t see God (Hebrews 12:14).
