PASSOVER

David Abankwah

SERIES: Day 1

And thus shall ye eat it; with your loins girded, your shoes on your feet, and your staff in your hand; and ye shall eat it in haste: it is the Lord’s PASSOVER.

-Exodus 12:11 | KJV

Jacob and the twelve tribes of Israel dwelt and died in the land of Egypt but God didn’t send a Saviour because they were not in need of one. They were not slaves in the land of Egypt because of who Joseph was. The status quo of Joseph as the Prime Minister of Egypt, made Jacob and the eleven tribes of Israel as freemen. But after the death of the Pharaoh who through Joseph, his dream was interpreted, died, the next king who reigned, took the descendants of the progenitors as slaves. Though it looked like a normal exile, it was a prophecy God pronounced to Abraham in Genesis 15:13-14.

And he said unto Abram, Know of a surety that thy seed shall be a stranger in a land that is not theirs, and shall serve them; and they shall afflict them four hundred years; And also that nation, whom they shall serve, will I judge: and afterward shall they come out with great substance. -Genesis 15:13-14. True to God’s prophecy, the Israelites were in exile for four hundred years. They were in hard labour all these years. Sometimes the magnitude of their labour were doubled whenever they tried to set themselves free from their slavery.

Brethren, God’s time is right for you. The fact that, you are going through times of slavery, doesn’t mean God has rejected you. It is His strength that has kept you this far. Without Him in your life, you could have denied Him long time ago. Walking with God has its hardest times. God is not a one way God. He is not only prosperity-based God. He is not only blessing oriented God. He is not only an easy-go God. He is not take-home free God and He is not a Father Christmas. Nothing comes free in this world. Even salvation has a price you must pay.

Do you think God had it easy when He wanted to deliver Israelites from the hands of Egyptians? Do you think He had it easy when He waited for 400 years? Do you think it was easy calling Moses who was a murderer and fugitive at the same time? Look at how Moses had to make God proof Himself to him so many times before he could allow himself to go on the calling of Israel’s deliverance. When Moses responded to the calling, He was led by God into the land of Egypt which he was once running from. He constantly allowed God to have His way until the day of Passover when deliverance came.

Stay Blessed
