ELEMENTAL HOPE
David Abankwah
SERIES: Day 2
For there is HOPE of a tree, if it be cut down, that it will sprout again, and that the tender branch thereof will not cease.
-Job 14:7 | KJV
Hope as an element of Christianity is inevitable. As Christians, we have to exercise it every now and then. This is because, Christianity is not only a one way traffic where prosperity and blessings are only defined and purposed. There are going to be situations that will challenge your faith. It is part of the package as a Christian because God has purposed for every individual the things you have to pass through before you can have the crown of life. And I tell you, it is not easy. Christianity is not easy as it seems. If you don’t know the nation you have come into, you better stand on your grounds well.
When God called Abraham, He asked him to leave his father’s house and go into a land which he knew nothing about. First, what he needed was faith and this faith gave him the assurance of the promised land, which is hope. Hope then guided Abraham through his walk with God but things weren’t easy as it seemed. Even though God was with him, he didn’t have things on a silver platter. At times, his patience was tested; at other times, his faith was tested; at other times, his loyalty to God was also tested and they were all harsh conditions. Today, when a Christian goes through one or two situations, then his hope in the Lord thwarts.
Who do you expect to carry your cross of suffering? Be strong in the Lord and be of good cheer, the Lord is with you. Stop complaining and murmuring always as if you are the only one on the island of nowhere. Hope has so many benefits you need to know. Hope is what will keep you in the days of your youth (Psalm 71:5). Hope is what will fill your mouth with praise even in the midst of all situations (Psalm 71:14). Hope is the remembrance fuel, that will energise you for the works of God (Psalm 78:7). Hope will also help you keep the commandments of God very well (Psalm 78:7).
It is God’s will that, we have hope in His word (Psalm 119:49). In times when your faith faints concerning salvation, it is the element of hope that will keep you in God’s word (Psalm 119:81). Hope is what will shield you from from attacks of your enemies and sustain you in God’s hiding place (Psalm 119:114). Anyone who hopes in the Lord will always be upheld (Psalm 119:116). Shame is not part of the dictionary of those who have hope (Psalm 119:116). If you want to wait on the Lord for long, you need to have hope (Psalm 130:5). Hope brings plenteous redemption for the believer (Psalm 130:7).
Stay Blessed
