RIGHTEOUSNESS FULFILLMENT
David Abankwah
READ: Ezekiel 18:24

And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffered him.
-Matthew 3:15 | KJV

John the Baptist started his ministry before Jesus Christ, because his ministry of forerunning should be prior to the ministry of the Messiah, so that every crooked paths would be made straight. I believe the reason why John the Baptist jumped inside of his mother Elizabeth when she heard the greetings of Mary (Jesus’s earthly mother) was that, they were probably discussing about their various ministries concerning things that needed to be done and the challenges involved. The soul of John might have been delighted to see who Jesus really was in the realms of the Spirit before He was born.

Finally, they met in the River Jordan where the Old Testament with John the Baptist (Last Prophet of the Old Testament) as the representative, met Jesus Christ who was the representative of the New Testament. Jesus had to bury the Old Testament and plant the New Testament in water which is life. River Jordan was a symbol of life which meant that, the New Covenant would bring eternal life to those who follow. Before the initiation process which is baptism, Jesus Christ told John the Baptist something I want to discuss with you. John the Baptist hardly knew why he had to baptise Jesus because he saw the need of him baptised rather.

Jesus told him that, ‘Suffer it to be so, for thus it becometh us to fulfill all righteousness’. There is a clear difference between righteousness and holiness. Righteousness is about the good life you live that can be seen by people but holiness is about your inner where only God knows. You can be righteous but that doesn’t mean you are holy. Physically you may not sin for us to see or know but probably in your mind and heart, you are the worst sinner the world has ever seen. Physically, you may not have slept with anyone but spiritually you are a fornicator or an adulterous person because you look at people lustfully (Matthew 5:28).

To fulfill all righteousness, you need to study the life of Jesus Christ and copy as such. You have to confess and accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and personal Saviour. You have to be baptised in the name of Jesus Christ by immersion in a river not a lake, swimming pool or been sprinkled upon by water. You have to be baptised by fire (Holy Spirit) and persecution. You have to dress decently like Him, be physically hygenic and be spiritually sanctified. You have to teach and preach the gospel to the world. Abstain from all manner of sins, be prayerful, fast, pay your tithe (to God) and tax (to Caesar) and read your Bible always.

Stay Blessed
