CONSISTENCY
David Abankwah
READ: Hebrews 13:8
Know therefore that the Lord thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations;
-Deuteronomy 7:9 | KJV
Another word for faithfulness is consistency. Doctors are consistent in treating sick and injured people. The day a doctor decides not to practice medicine but to conduct lawsuits for clients in court is when his profession changes from a doctor into a lawyer. There is nothing new under the sun. Corporate world is repetition of secular work over and over again. Ministry is repetition of spiritual things over and over again. When it comes to money, we are very consistent, but when it comes to things about God, we are lackadaisical. You are not a Christian if you only miss church meetings but you are always punctual at work.
The earth is a world of consistency. If you are not repetitious, you won’t succeed. The Bible is a book of consistency. It has records of true events that had happened before, as examples for us. From the Book of Genesis to the Book of Revelation, it denotes that, God is consistent in mercy, grace, longsuffering, abundance in goodness and truth, forgiveness, holiness and justice. One thing I fear about God is the part of Him that is justice. We better be careful about who God is. He is not going to change to suit our demands. As He was yesterday, the same will He be today and forever He will be.
Today, we are familiar with the consistency of God’s nature in terms of love, mercy and grace in our lives but when the just part of God is preached, people don’t want to hear. If you don’t know God well, search more about Him. Look at what He did to Adam and Eve when they trespassed His laws. Look at what He did to the people during the flood. If you don’t know the just part of God, ask the people of Sodom and Gomorrah. You better ask the angels who sinned against Him in heaven. Ask the Jews who died on their way to the promised land.
If you have anyone to fear about, don’t fear Satan or evil spirits. You don’t have to fear man. Fear God alone. Why is it that, one of the Spirits of God is the fear of the Lord? He is there for a purpose. God is the only One you need to fear. Any sin you commit, He will punish you for that so prepare. If you have committed abortion, be ready for the punishment of murder. When you ask forgiveness, God will forgive you but note that, whatever you sow, you will definitely reap. If you have sown the seed of lie, you will definitely reap the harvest of brokenhearted and disappointment. God is consistent in punishment and judgement.
