RESTITUTION
David Abankwah
SERIES: Day 3

Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me.
-John 14:30 | KJV

Jesus made mention of restitution in John 14:30. Though it seems quite unclear
when one reads it, but upon further meditation on it, you will realise that, anytime you make restitution, you are getting rid of things that make you sinful. Sin is disobedience to God and failure to do things that are good and right. Sin is the channel through which Satan and other evil spirits pass through to possess you. Sin is Satan’s spiritual licensing avenue, that makes him authorized to claim the ownership of God’s creation. If you don’t let go the sin and iniquity as Satan’s property you possess, you can never be a Christian.

Jesus Christ was not a sinner. He was not possessing any property of sin and iniquity that could have made Satan to own Him. In that case, Satan could not have any legal backing to claim Him as his property. Anytime you sin, you are calling Satan to possess you and to be the Master of your life. You can only return Satan’s properties to him by doing restitution. The reason why when you want to be initiated into the nation of Christianity, you have to make a confession is that, you give Jesus Christ the spiritual permit to be your Lord and Master and at the same time, denouncing Satan. That is what makes verbal restitution or confession so powerful.

Without verbal restitution, you can never be a Christian. Also, any wrong doing you have done against people, you ought to confess your sins to them and ask of their forgiveness. For your repentance to be accepted by heaven, you have to confess your sins one unto another (James 5:16; 1 John 1:9; Proverbs 28:13). Don’t say afterall God has forgiven me, why should I have to confess my sins to people? There are many believers whom before they met Christ, were having issues, bitterness, hatred and grudges with people that created loggerheads. You have to make verbal restitution to them and settle your differences amicably.

If you are in any romantic relationship which you know is not leading to marriage but fornication or adultery, better make restitution and tell him or her that it is over. Remove your sim card and break it. Return everything that you obtained because of the relationship. Don’t value the gifts more than your salvation. You say you have repented, but you still have your ex’s number and possessions. The converts of Acts had to make restitution, by bringing books of occultism and strange worship to be burnt. If truly you have repented, there must be a radical change or evidence to prove so, otherwise you are deceiving your ownself.
