CONTRITE SPIRIT

The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.

To be of a contrite spirit or to be crushed in spirit is to feel or show sorrow and remorse for a sin or shortcoming. Contrite spirit comes from within. It normally comes when one is able to make the heart ready for it. This is because, it is from the heart that comes all manner of sin and iniquities. But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man. For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies: -Matthew 15:18-19 | KJV
When man fell in the Garden of Eden, his heart also was corrupted. He could no longer allow good things to flow out of it. Satan got close to man to influence his heart. Before you do any evil thing, there is an evil force behind that operation. Nothing happens just like that and mostly, the one who cannot resist the devil, falls into many temptations and evil. The organ that Spirits target is the heart because it is the door or gateway through which Spirits can enter into man. Behold, I stand at the DOOR, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.

They don’t have to come into your mind, neither do they have to bother themselves with your kidneys, lungs, liver or stomach. They don’t worry inhabiting your spleen or intestines. What is needed is the heart. So far as they can have your heart, they can influence your thoughts which will in turn, influence your choice of words and actions. The preacher will even shock you that, it is not the mind we use to think, but the heart. FOR AS HE THINKETH IN HIS HEART, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; but his heart is not with thee.

If you want to have a broken heart, you need to read the Word of God and practice what it says. The word of God is a two-edged sword which is meant to cut every sin and iniquity entangling your heart. The Word is what can break every hardened heart. The Word is what will help you become remorseful of your sins and iniquities so that you can genuinely repent from them. Repentance is what God is looking for in every man and it cannot come when you don’t have a contrite spirit.
