MOCKERY
David Abankwah
READ: Psalm 89:51
Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap.
-Galatians 6:7 | ESV
‘My wife knew what I would do because she knew my temperament. She went ahead to calm things down in a manner that would not spark infuriation. As a choleric Pastor, I would have become angry and reacted in a way that a Christian ought not to have done and have said looking at what a member said to me in a meeting’ said by one of my Pastors in his sermon delivery. As a choleric and a stammerer, I understood what he said because mine was even worse. I used to mock and tease people at will but the shocking part is that, those who like teasing and mocking don’t want that in return.
You see them going mad easily with their body languages speaking volumes of what is about to happen. Their vexation is normally seen when punches are thrown in the air, things being smacked down and all sorts of insulting words being hauled down on the victim. The laughing jackal has now turned into a fierce boxer, wrestler and slanderer. No one wants to be mocked at all. To mock is to treat someone with contempt or ridicule; to disappoint the hopes of someone; to defy or challenge someone; and to imitate someone closely in a way as to create fun, laughter and infuriation.
Mocking lowers your self-esteem, derails respect, brings about dishonour, takes away reverence, belittle and infuriates you. Mocking can shatter one’s hopes and dreams and build an inferiority complex. There are so many people who have been brought down through mockery. They never rise up to become who God created them to be. In a way as we don’t like or want to be mocked, God also despises people who mock Him. You can mock God when you want to reap what you have not sown. God works according to His Word because they are principles that guard His actions. Nothing is created or exist without the Word of God.
You ridicule, take God for fun, mock or treat Him with contempt, when you want Him to do something outside what His Word says. Anything outside the word of God is sin. Everything is by sowing and reaping. God sowed the universe and reaped everything that came out of it. He sowed one Son and has gotten many sons. You have not sown faithfulness and loyalty but you want to reap a wife who will be committed to you forever. No way! The reason why we pray amiss is that, we pray outside what we have not sown. Everything you have sown is recorded in the Book of Remembrance.
