COMMUNICATION
David Abankwah
READ: Proverbs 25:11
My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be QUICK TO LISTEN, SLOW TO SPEAK and SLOW TO BECOME ANGRY,
-James 1:19 | NIV
Communication is the core integral principle of the universe. God brought the heavens and earth into existence by communicating with the Word. He didn’t bring anything into this world without neglecting communication. You will see the Godhead communicating with one another during the creation of man (Genesis 1:26). Man was fashioned after the manner of communication. This makes us to understand that, without communication, man ceases to exist. That is why success comes through communication. Any successful person will tell you he has communicated with a lot of people to become who he is today.
It is through networks of people that your blessings lie. It is through communication, that I am writing to you. It is communication purpose that God has written the Bible for us. Everything is by communication and nothing without it. As I am writing to you, your salvation lies in communication by the confession of Jesus Christ. Your money lies in someone’s pocket and it takes communication to get that. Your marriage is is on the heart of a man or woman. Without communication, you can never get it. Any husband will tell you that, if he had failed to propose, he would not have married his wife.
Someone will ask, what is the meaning of communication? To communicate is to give information about (something) to someone by speaking, writing, moving your hands, etc. or to transmit information, thought, or feeling so that it is satisfactorily received or understood. James chapter one, verse number nineteen, gives us a profound guidelines as to how we should go about communication. First of all, one should be quick to listen. Every good speaker is a best listener. Where do you think he got the knowledge he had to convey to you? We don’t listen by the ear only. You can listen by reading or by vision.
Value the words any person conveys. It may be stupid, useless, or unimportant, but at least there is one sense in it. No matter who you are, you still need to learn. The one who thinks he knows something knows nothing yet (1 Corinthians 8:2). When it is your turn, speak because it is necessary not that you have to. Because many people don’t know how to communicate well, adopt a large heart for their nonsense, infuriation, naivety, perfectionism, I-know-all and you-are-always-wrong attitude. Sometimes these people are your bosses, parents, rulers, Pastors or even helpers in disguise. Treat them well and be slow to become angry, otherwise you will lose your angels.
