LOVE IS DIVERSE

Charity suffereth long,

We thank God for such a topic we will be receiving inspiration on. Love is one thing that spans across the universe. Apart from God, there are things you love. You will bear with me that, what you love, is what you deliberately make time for. What you love, is what you cherish. What you love, is what you invest in. What you love, is what you admire most. What you love, is what you sacrifice a lot for. But unfortunately, when it comes to the sacrificial part, you see many people taking a step back. Let me make this clear to you: Love is not a free ride.

Love is not something you can swing it back and forth like a simple pendulum or probably a switch you can turn it off and on at will. Once you find yourself in something you love, you have entrenched yourself into one of the diversities of love called: LONG-SUFFERING. Long-suffering is to suffer for someone or something for a very long time without complaining. Love is going to cost you a lot and the moment you start complaining, is when hate sets in. I used to support a sporting club for quiet a time. I kept on believing that everything will be alright, even though it wasn’t.

I always had the belief that, at least in the midst of our crisis, we would stand tall and win some trophies some time to come but it wasn’t happening. I knew my love for this great club was tested by the trait of long-suffering. When it got to a time I couldn’t bear it anymore, I threw in the towel because of complaint for lack of trophies and I had to move on. You can move on with the things of the world but you can’t move on with God, Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. If we sit down and analyze what God has done for us, we have no ground for complaints.

Anytime there is something bad happening to us, we think God has forsaken us, but we are the ones who have forsaken God. God becomes your security guard when you sleep. He becomes your Provider when need be. He becomes your Saviour when your soul is heading towards hell. He becomes your defender against the devil’s wiles. He becomes our strength for making wealth. He is our Creator and sustainer. God serves us more than we serve Him, yet we still complain. In times of situations, you see a believer fretting. You can prove your love when there is crisis not when things are rosy.
