Today, we will be looking at another diverse trait of love. I hope you were blessed by the previous message. Love is kind. There is difference between being good and being kind. Looking at the nine fruits of the Holy Spirit, there is a fruit goodness and there is also a fruit of kindness. Sometimes we get it wrong when we think we are doing good but we are rather being kind. Goodness has to do with character. Someone can say, ‘Oh David is a good guy. You don’t see him sinning or committing iniquity but, when I ask him for help I don’t get it just because he is not that kind.’
Goodness is personal, but kindness is mutual. The good character you have doesn’t put money in someone’s pocket. The sins you have stopped and the iniquity you have pledged not to do, does not affect the lives of others. Today, many believers have become so poor in this area of kindness. You see them living good lives but they are not kind to one another. When they pass by and see beggars on the road, they curse them in their heads. Some even think that, when they give their money to beggars, they will have bad fortunes and they normally tag them as devil incarnates.
If you have love, then kindness should spring out of you. When you eat, think about others who are starving. When you are working, think about the jobless. When you are rich, think about the poor. When you are married, think about the singles. When you are saved, think about the lost. Don’t be morally good and poor in kindness. It is not only money you can use as a means of kindness towards one another. A phone call or text message you send, can be a kind gesture. Don’t excuse lack of kindness to busyness.
Everyone is busy, but we make time for what is important. If kindness is important to you, you will not treat it as an opportunity cost. Without kindness, love is incomplete. God was kind enough to us, that was why He was able to give His Son Jesus Christ for us. Kindness is all about giving. We ought to give our time in order to seek the lost souls of by the deed of kindness in sharing the Word of God with them. Give your time, energy, resources and everything you have to make the life of others more exciting and beautiful. Save a life today with your kindness!
