LOVE IS DIVERSE
David Abankwah
SERIES: Day 12
Beareth all things…..
-1 Corinthians 13:7 KJV
Love has its own burdens. Because people have different response to how they should react and how they think you love them, sacrifices differ from one person to the other. Someone may think that, if you sacrifice your time for me, that means you love me. Another person may think that, if you give me gifts, that means you love me. Another person will tell you that, if you do some acts of services for me, that means you are showing your love towards me. Another person will also say that, you can prove your love if only you communicate with me more often.
You will discover that, all these dimensional of love sacrifices are centred on one thing: Giving. Whether you give your time, your body, acts of services, communication, or what have you, you are fulfilling the main focus of what love is. When God loved us, He had to give His one and only Son. Do you think it was that easy to give your one and only Son? God had no Son at that time, and I believe it was a painful thing to do, yet He had to do it. To bear means to carry, and carrying means sacrifice, and true sacrifice, is based on pain.
Because of the love I have for God, I have to bear so many things in life. From my childhood when I met the Lord, I have made lots of sacrifices and many things I had to bear. I remember one time, I had to sacrifice my vacation classes for Bible school training sessions. I was the youngest among them, yet, I needed to bear the love of the call of God. I had to sacrifice my time, comfort zone, education and all that. Sometimes I had no money and I and to walk miles to the auditorium to be trained. At the age of 10 years, I had my first Bible school certificate and I don’t ever regret walking in the midst of God’s love.
I least expected that, the bearing of the love of God was going to be easier, but as I grew, I realised that, it also became keener. The love of God is going to cost you big time. Abraham was asked to sacrifice His Isaac but for you, your Isaac may be different. What is so dear to you; what is so precious to you; that one one thing or one person you can’t live without is the only thing God will ask of you to sacrifice. Will you be able to bear the sacrifice that comes with love or you will disappoint God like the rich man who went away just because he wasn’t ready to sacrifice His money for ministry?
