There was once a story I heard when I was listening to a sermon preached by a certain Pastor. He narrated that, he saw a certain guy who was checking the car body and tyres to make sure that everything was in order before boarding the car. When this Pastor approached him, he asked ‘Why were you checking the car before sitting in? He said, ‘Oh, as for me, any car I board, I make sure I check the car very well before sitting in. This is because, many accidents that occur is due to the failure on the part of drivers to check and maintain their car properly before sitting at the back of the wheel.’
The Pastor then asked, ‘Well said, but do you also know that, accidents can happen even though a vehicle is in good condition?’. Like this guy, there are many of us who want to see something before believing. This is not faith! This is doubt and doublemindedness. There is no problem checking the condition of a car before starting or sitting in, but an element of faith is also needed for the car to take you anywhere without fault. When there is always fault finding, there is no faith and there is no love too. There are many situations that will come and test the faith level of your love.
There are so many false rumours you will hear about the Lord as you serve Him. There are so many false witnesses that people will tell you about the people you love. The grounds of faith you have in God and people will be shaken. You must be someone who believes all things in order to survive in love. The moment you begin to have a mind that, ‘I need to check whether what this person is saying is true or not, is the commencement of you losing the battle of love’. Today, many marriages are breaking down just because couples find it hard to believe each other.
There was a certain husband who unintentionally used his phone as a soap in the bathroom just because, he thought when he left his phone in the living room, his wife will navigate through it. Why do you expect people to be faithful if you are a doubtful and doubleminded person? If you try investigating and experimenting to see the truth behind everything before believing, you will die early. You don’t have to see God, His Son and the Holy Spirit before believing in them. Everything about them are all written in the Bible for our belief. Just believe in what the Word of God says and flow accordingly.
