LOVE IS DIVERSE

David Abankwah

SERIES: Day 14

…..hopeth all things…..

-1 Corinthians 13:7 | KJV

To have hope is to cherish or desire with anticipation. It also means to desire with expectation of obtainment or fulfillment or to expect something or someone with confidence. Hope is built on faith. To expect someone to do something for you with eager anticipation, you must have had faith in the person, that, he or she can do what you expect. There can be faith without hope, but there can’t be hope without faith. It is empirical to note that, hope is one of the Christian virtues every believer must have and it works within the space of the greatest virtue called love.

When you love God, you will surely have hope in Him because love has hope embedded in it. You see, before you can have hope, there must be certain promises the other party has pronounced. It is based on these promises, that you expect to have. Likewise, God has made numerous promises to us in His word and we ought to have hope in Him that He will surely deliver. If you are a believer and you have struggles in having hope for things you have been promised of, then a tree is more important than you. Why am I saying this? I am saying this because of Job 14:7.

It reads: “For there is HOPE FOR A TREE, When it is cut down, that it will sprout again, And its shoots will not fail. -JOB 14:7 | NASB. Even if a tree has hope that, ‘things will be alright; better future is ahead of me; I will surely succeed even though my present condition I am in, suggests otherwise,’ then we as humans must do better. Today, hoping in the Lord has become a tug of war. A little pull, then we are on the floor lamenting. Look at the 120 people who had hope for the incoming of the Holy Spirit in the Book of Acts. See their reaction and you will definitely know that, they really deserved to have the Spirit.

There is no hope without the test of waiting. Hope means: I want something I have not worked for. So if I want something I have not worked for, then I must strengthen my groin with the belt of waiting, in order to have it. Even though it tarries, doesn’t mean it will not come. Because people failed us when we had hope in them, we also develop lack of hope for God. You can’t have good things from God if you are impatient like a swine. A little test of hope for food, then you see swines eating from the refuse dump. God never fails in delivering His promises. It is the fault on our part when we are rather impatient to wait.
