LOVE IS DIVERSE

David Abankwah

SERIES: Day 15

…..endureth all things.

-1 Corinthians 13:7 | KJV

Every athlete is subject to endure pain. For someone to be a good sportsman, that person must be prepared to undergo series of training. This training is not pleasant to undergo because but it is worth doing. An athlete must maintain good form so that he can compete at the highest level and win. Most often, this training is a set of strategic pain models, orchestrated to be experienced over a long period of time. The fact that you went through training A today doesn’t mean that, when you train the next time, your pain will diminish. It is never so!

But what makes athletes go through such pains in the first place? There is a certain trophy, accolade or a prize that the winner should take. Many athletes partake but only one clinches the prize. If an athlete can have a love for a prize that is corruptible and go through series of endurance, then believers must also strengthen themselves up, when it comes to endurance for the love for God and one’s neighbour. Love is going to cost you pain and you need to endure. Love without endurance is like a lost ship on the ocean. You will die on the sea without returning home.

Do you think Pastors make you vow before the pulpit on the day when your marriage is blessed for nothing? Come on! They know the journey you have taken will not be a free ride and an easy route. They are aware of the pains and risks involved that you have to face. The funny part is that, instead of we enduring whatever we are faced, you see us behaving like Jonah. You want a cheap side but you don’t want to suffer. There is nothing like that on this earth. Love is war and you have to fight. Sometimes you will lose a hand. You will lose a leg. You can even lose your life, yet, it is worth fighting.

Endurance enhances love. It makes love gain its lustre. It strengthens love and provides a cutting edge. Because of the love Jesus Christ had for us, He had to endure so many pains. If it was me who was standing before Pilate, I would have told him point blank that, I am not the Messiah. They should probably find another Jesus. Looking at such painful moments you have to go through before dying, you think it is that easy? I believe that was the reason why no host of heaven was willing to be the Saviour of the world.
