PERTURBATION

David Abankwah

READ: Luke 12:29-31

Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?

-Matthew 6:25 | KJV

Perturbation is the state of being worried or upset. Perturbation makes one think about problems or fears which in turn becomes evidential to all. Many become perturbed just because, they think that something bad has happened or could happen. But Jesus Christ gave us a commandment in Matthew 6:25 that, we shouldn’t worry about certain things. These things are trivial issue about our physiological needs: Food, clothing and shelter. One thing many believers are not particular about is the words of Jesus Christ.

We need to realise that, it is Him who will judge. So if you don’t obey the words of Jesus Christ and say you will follow the Mosaic law only, you will perish. You honour Moses but you don’t honour Jesus Christ, how pathetic! If you disobey even one word that Jesus Christ have said, you will not have eternal life. If Jesus Christ says do not worry about your needs, obey and flow. It is not your worry that is going to amass the things you need in life. Many forget that God is the One who created all things. He created food, shelter and clothing even before He created man.

He knew we would need those things. The best thing to do is that, if you lack something, pray to God and He will provide all your needs. He is the Jehovah Jireh the Lord our Provider. Such faith in God now has diminished. In this case, you will see a young lady amassing ten boyfriends at a time. She denotes one to be Mr. Provider of food; another to be Mr. Provider of Clothing, another to be Mr. Provider of Shelter another to be Mr. Provider of Bills; another to be Mr. Provider of Money and the list goes on and on. She collects her salaries from the pockets of her boyfriends.

And this same person holds microphone and sing in church too. This same person still call herself a Christian. Instead of us focusing and asking God for spiritual things, we divert our attention towards worldly things. There is one need every believer should ask, seek and knock for. That is the Holy Spirit (Luke 11:13). When you have Him, He blesses you spiritually and physically (Matthew 6:33). But He is not the focus of many believers now when they pray. When you see them fasting and praying, it is because they have had a bad dream or probably going through series of difficulties.
