LIBERTY
David Abankwah
READ: Romans 6
For, brethren, ye have been called unto LIBERTY; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.
-Galatians 5:13 | KJV
Sin is an entanglement for the soul. When you sin, you become a prisoner of Satan. He locks you into the prison of sin and it is him who controls you. The more you try to escape, the more he strengthens the security of the prison and the more sinful you become. Satan got man into prison in the Garden of Eden when he caused man to fall. That is why God had to banish them from their freedom in Him into the prison of their master – Satan. Man then became slaves for Satan for more than 4000 years (from the beginning to the time of Jesus Christ).
In all these years, God was preparing someone who was going to bail man out of prison. One thing I have realised about God is that, He is a very patient Father. He takes time to execute His plans and when He unleashes them, they are perfect. See the years He allowed Satan to imprison man, yet He had patience and longsuffering. The reason why God has had patience for you all these years as you continue to sin is not that He can’t kill or destroy you, but He has patience that, one day you will remember your true home and ask Him to bail you out of your sins.
He sent His Son Jesus Christ to bail us out of prison with His blood so that we can gain liberty from slavery to serve the Father in all righteousness, holiness and sanctification. The blood of Jesus Christ was expensive enough to bail man for all these years and now we have been set free from the power of sin. Now as we have gained liberty from Satan, it is shocking to note that, there are some people who have gone back to Satan and they are saying, ‘Hey Satan, you know what? We want to be slaves of sin again. Imprison us because we love to be in your custody’.
These people are the ones who think Christianity is a burden or an entanglement that does not permit them to sin. You will see them saying, ‘Christianity is not an entanglement that limits you from sinning. Once saved is forever saved. So when I sin, God will not count my sin against me.’ It is the world that entangles us from being righteous and holy, not Christianity. Jesus Christ is calling you today. Please lay down every weight of sin and be reunited with Him. His blood is enough to cleanse you from all your sins and when you are taken back as a Son, don’t go back to your vomit again.
