FRAIL
David Abankwah
READ: Hebrews 12:12-13
Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
-Romans 8:26 | KJV
To walk with God, you have to accept that you are frail or weak so that He who is strong can help you to be stronger in faith. Sometimes the things that you have to do to be strong, often become quite difficult and this makes you fall. Falling doesn’t mean that you have to sin intentionally and return to ask for forgiveness. It is the Spirit of God that can help the believer to become a Christian but the process is not an easy one of course. Day in and day out, you have to seek the righteousness who is Jesus Christ and the Kingdom of God who is the Holy Spirit (Matthew 6:33).
There was one time I had a dream about the level of Christianity I was. I saw myself walking in the footsteps of someone who was leading me to a certain place. I followed Him till He climbed a very tall building to the top. As I advanced toward the building, I saw staircases which I needed to move up on. I began the move on these steps. The more I moved, the more I found it difficult to climb and He was not there to help me too. I had to do it myself. I advanced to the middle of the house and I saw two wild dogs waiting to rip my flesh out.
Instead of facing them, I thought I was too wise to escape them, not knowing, I was getting out of the way. As I tried to escape, I fell from where I was to the ground. Then I heard a voice that told me: ‘You have to start again’. As I was too disappointed in myself, I remembered that, I was living in sin and I had to work it out and overcome that. It is sin that will make you fall from the grace and the faith you have. That is why salvation is also work (Philippians 2:12). Once saved is not forever saved as some people sing choruses of it. It is not only prayer that the Spirit of God helps us with.
He also helps us in our Christian life as we work out our salvation with fear and trembling. But before He comes, He makes sure there is no sin in you. He is Holy and He cannot live in sin. He only lives in the blood of Jesus Christ that has cleansed you. Then He now becomes the Controller of your life (Romans 8:14). His will becomes your will and free will never exist in His encyclopedia. Then Christianity becomes easy to flow in and all frailty are neutralised. Then you can say ‘I have tasted the Lord and know that He is good’ (1 Peter 2:3).
