BEHOLD HIS FACE
David Abankwah
READ: Genesis 39:8-12

As for me, I shall behold your face in righteousness; when I awake, I shall be satisfied with your likeness.
Psalms 17:15 | ESV

When you respect, reverence, and honour someone, there is a certain approach and attention you give to this person. It then changes the way you think about this person and this in turn, makes you talk and act differently. You will then realise that, you behold this person’s face differently from the crowd. Someone told me something when I was in senior high school. He said, ‘David, anytime I look at you, I have a certain reverence for you. The way I want to approach you is different from others. There is an honour and integrity on you anytime I behold your face and this makes you unique from the rest.’

If you don’t have integrity, people can’t behold your face with honour. Above all people, God is the One who has all the integrity. From Genesis to Revelation, He has carried Himself well in all holiness and He expects us to do the same. God who gives us laws, even obey them because, He has raised His word even above Himself. Anytime we call today, we have to behold the Lord’s face and give Him the necessary reverence in all acts of righteousness and holiness. When you behold someone’s face, it means that, when the person is around, you cannot do evil.

Because the Galatians did not behold Paul’s face, anytime he was not around, the church misbehaved (Galatians 4:18). That is happening in our time now. Instead of beholding God’s face everywhere we go, you see many beholding their Pastors and other believer’s faces. They say, ‘After all, my Pastor is not here, let me carry out my mischief’. If indeed you behold God’s face, you will not sin against the Lord when you are alone. The reason why many carry out secret sins of pornography, masturbation, corruption and all kinds of evil is that, they don’t behold God’s face everywhere they go.

Beholding God’s face also mean that, God is present everywhere you are. So if God is present with you everywhere, how can you sin? How can you commit iniquity? To behold God’s face is to have the fear of God. The fear of God doesn’t know location. Mind you, in your privacy, you are live on the television of heaven. You think you are alone, but there is a secret spiritual camera on you recording you live. You can’t escape. Whatever you do in secret is broadcasted on the rooftops of heaven. A Christian is someone who proves His Christianity when no one is around.
