David Abankwah
READ: 3 John 1:11
He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the Lord require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?
-Micah 6:8 | KJV
We are informed day in and day out as we are being hit by various breaking news. There is always something new a day brings and our reactions towards them is what matters. Awareness of information is always a key to success whether it is in life or ministry. A medical doctor qualifies to practice medicine not because of the title but because he has been informed of a particular form of knowledge which came from medical books. For this reason, he has been aware of this information that will help him carry out his profession.
In Christianity, we are being informed of Godly knowledge that comes from the book called the Bible. The Bible contains examples of good and evil events but we are entitled to follow the good and shun the evil -3 John 1:11. So if you want to commit evil or good, there are quotations in the Bible that supports them. In this case, many who wants Bible verses to support their sins will have them but there are other quotations that talk about the consequences of sins. That is why the Bible is a two-edged sword (Hebrews 4:12).
The fact that Cain killed his brother Abel, doesn’t make it right to kill your sibling. The fact that Lamech, Jacob, David, Solomon and the rest married more than one doesn’t make it right for you to practice polygamy. The fact that, many people practised incest in the Bible doesn’t make it right to have sexual intercourses with those you are closely related to. The fact that Noah became a drunkard does not make it right for us to engage in narcotics. When it comes to following bad characters in the Bible, many people are quick to imitate. Wow!
But when it comes to good examples of faith which Abraham had; perseverance and hope that Ruth had, righteousness that Job had; holiness that Jesus Christ had; goodness that the good Samaritan practised; love that the Apostles had for the ministry; joy that David had; peace that Solomon had; self-control that Joseph had among many good examples, many are not quick to imitate. No one has excuse in the day of the Great Judgement of God because the Word of God had been preached to you before. No one can stand before God and say ‘I was not aware, Lord.’
