MORE PRAISE, LESS COMPLAINTS

David Abankwah

READ: Romans 15:11

But I will sing of thy power; yea, I will sing aloud of thy mercy in the morning: for thou hast been my defence and refuge in the day of my trouble.

-Psalms 59:16 | KJV

One of the signs of the end time is the sign of ungratefulness. When Paul was writing one of His Pauline epistles to his son in the faith – Timothy, he made mention of ungrateful people who would fill the world and the church alike (2 Timothy 3:2). Ungratefulness is a dangerous trait that when you don’t deal away with, can lure you away from the faith. You may not commit idolatry, lie, murder, covet, love money more than God or probably find yourself in any sexual immortality, but the harm ungratefulness can cost your salvation, is beyond the apogee.

When you are ungrateful, you are equally on par with a sinner. Any ungrateful person lacks faith because he doubts what the Lord has done, and subsequently fails to believe what the Lord is about to do. There is no one in this world who shortens the Lord’s hand than someone who lacks faith in God. In this case, instead of believers casting their minds back on what the Lord had done, they are quick to murmur, grumble or complain about their situations more than the solutions God had provided them before. They are quick in criticizing God more than how they give Him praises.

One thing the Lord hates is someone who murmur, grumble or complain. When the Israelites complained bitterly about lack of water and food in the desert against God and against Moses – the then leader or Pastor of the church, the Lord sent fiery serpents to take their lives (Numbers 21:5-6). You will notice that, the people realised that the complaints were not ordinary but was sin unto God (Numbers 21:7). You need to be careful about the complains you make behind your Pastor, parent(s), boss, rulers or any leader who is before you.

Instead of complaining, sing their praises. Instead of complaining about what the Lord had not done, sing His praises. David knew what praises could do, so he committed himself in devoting more time in doing it. There are a lot of things the Lord has done for you that you have not seen, heard, or felt. True praises are songs that are sung to appreciate the things God has done behind the scenes. You don’t have to see what the Lord has done before you praise Him. The secret to David’s unending success in battles was the power of His praises to God in the midst of situations not solutions.
