HUMILITY
David Abankwah
READ: Zephaniah 2:3
The fear of the Lord is instruction in wisdom, and HUMILITY comes before honor.
-Proverbs 15:33 | ESV
God has a purpose for everyone. He knows what He will use you to do but you must take note that, there are two trees in this world: The tree of pride and the tree of humility. Before God can use you to accomplish a purpose, you first have to be humble. God is a King and anyone who comes to Him must become a servant. But the shocking news is that, there are people who behave as Kings too. They can never be controlled by the Word of God because they feel they are too big to be led. Mind you, there cannot be two kings in the same Kingdom! It is either: one needs to submit to the other or other have to be overthrown. A Kingdom with two heads, is a freak.
You cannot overthrow God and God cannot submit to you. Before the universe was made, He was already God, a King who was ruling over the Godhead. His residence in Heaven teaches us His sovereignty. For you to move and flow with Him well, you first have to humble yourself and become lowly in heart. There are people who ‘appear’ humble with their hands at their backs, who bow when necessary to show respect but inside them, they know they are faking it. Humility is not gestures. Humility is not someone who is calm. Humility is not someone who doesn’t speak much. Humility is not being phlegmatic. Humility is all about obedience.
The reason why God made Moses to be a god to Pharaoh was all about humility. As an Israelite, he was trained to be a Prince in the palace of Pharaoh. Yet, he became humble by leaving the position of a Prince to be a commoner in the land of the Midianites where he became a Shepherd and a house helper for a certain man of God called Jethro. It is only humility that can make you serve even though you have a higher rank. God saw Moses from afar because in His sight, Moses was a President of Israel, yet, God allowed him to serve and be humble first to another leader before the citizens would do same.
Any leader who is not first a humble person will always have followers who are proud. The Spirit of God is a humble Spirit and those who are proud cannot have Him. You are sacked from work, just because you were not humble to your Supervisor, Manager or boss. Sister, you are still single just because you have proud look. You say no man approaches you but you know well that, your catwalk alone is uninviting and scares possible suitors. The way you even talk is alarming! Associate Pastor, be humble to your Senior Pastor. Don’t eye the pulpit and pray that your Senior Pastor dies early in order for you to take over.
