JUSTICE
David Abankwah
READ: Genesis 18:19
By JUSTICE a king builds up the land, but he who exacts gifts tears it down.
-Proverbs 29:4 | ESV
Justice is the maintenance or administration of what is right especially by the impartial adjustment of conflicting claims or the assignment of merited rewards or punishments to the people whom they rightfully deserve. The hierarchy of Biblical leadership is from God the Father, then to God the Son, then to man, and then to woman (1 Corinthians 11:3). Justice is one of the core foundations of leadership because leadership is also about the execution of rightful decisions. To the followers who trespass, they will not be happy with the rightful decisions you take against them.
One of the responsibilities that is embedded in the system of leadership is justice. A leader is a failure when he is unable to execute justice against all odds. There will be temptations of bribes that will crouch at your doorsteps ready to thwart your decisions. Personal preference which comes from the inner man and the environment can influence you to be biased. That is why every good leader must have a strong feet in the Lord. In the Bible lies all the guidelines that can direct leaders. If you want to be a good leader, you can’t bypass God who is the Maker and Breaker of the chains of reigns.
Before Moses could become a leader and implement the laws of Justice (The Ten Commandments), He passed through God. Before King David could become a very good leader who executed justice in Israel and Judah, he passed through God. Even before His Son Jesus Christ could become the leader and founder of Christianity, He passed through God (John 3:16). Before the disciples could become leaders of the church, they passed through God. There is no leadership that can truly execute justice without having its dependence on God (Romans 13:1-2). Without justice, uncontrollable chaos will be the order of the day.
God, who is the Head of all leaders, knew what leadership entailed so when He set up His throne, justice was part of His core foundations. Righteousness and JUSTICE are the FOUNDATION of your throne; steadfast love and faithfulness go before you. -Psalm 89:14 | ESV. All leaders should know that, they will also be held accountable for the positions they were given by God especially those in the body of Christ. One bad decision you take as a leader is more than capable of dragging someone into the lake of fire. Acknowledge God in your decision making and let Him guide you through your leadership always.
Prayer Diary: Lord Jesus, I pray for the grace and strong will to execute justice without fear or favour as a leader in life and in ministry in Jesus name, Amen.
