EXCUSE?
David Abankwah
READ: Luke 14:16-24

If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not have been guilty of sin, but now they have no EXCUSE for their sin.
-John 15:22 | ESV

One of the attributes of God is that, He is an Inexcusable God; meaning He is a God who doesn’t take excuses. If God had the character trait of excuse, He may not have created the world out of nothing. Man is living on the third planet but look at the many things that are around us here. Even before artificial things can be made, it must be taken from the natural things God has created. There are many things that we have not seen in other parts of the universe, yet, God created them all. The sun is one of the many stars God created and very far away as possible, yet, it is able to give an enormous heat to reach earth.

If God gave an excuse of creation, He might not have created the beautiful lady you salivate over that you want to marry. You might not have created the guy with the six packs you are dying over. He might not have created the land your house on. He might not have created the air you breathe and water which is one of the most essential necessities of life. Yet, for all the things God created, He created man to be His image and likeness who will not make excuses too. But from the beginning to the time Jesus Christ came, men had disappointed God are still in the business of excuses.

Because of fear of the death warrant Jezebel issued to Elijah, he fled from his ministry (1 Kings 19:3). When he was queried by God, he made an excuse for his inaction and that was the end of his ministry. Elijah thought God would take his excuse and let him continue his ministry, not knowing, God had already prepared Elisha to replace him. I tell you, your excuse is nothing to God. You may have gift(s) but if you are not using it/them just because of your work, family, time, or something else which is more precious to you than the work of God, you will be replaced. Excuses mean nothing to God.

When God was calling Moses, he made an excuse that he was a stammerer but God didn’t listen but went on to choose him. God has sat down and realised man is too busy with excuses and He has taught us a great lesson by bringing in His Son Jesus Christ who did not make a single excuse in His life and ministry. Because of that, He has been authorised by the Father to judge everyone because God knows very well that, they will be people who will defend their excuses in the day of judgement. If Jesus became a man and lived a holy life, man cannot be excused of sin.

Prayer Diary: Lord Jesus, please forgive me of any direct and indirect excuses I have made in life and ministry. Now, I am living a life which is bereft of excuses in Jesus name, Amen.
