INCREMENT
David Abankwah
READ: Isaiah 40:31
He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength.
Isaiah 40:29 | KJV
I experienced the full-blown power and increment in strength the first time I prayed seven hours non stop while I was also fasting. Physically, I was so weak because the body which needed to sustain me for this intensive spiritual exercise had to rely on my glycogen which was depleted with a fast. When you fast, for you to stay alive, the body has to undergo a process of catabolism of majority of the glucose you have stored in the cells when you were eating. It is the stored glucose in the cells that the body breaks down to provide energy to keep you going and the more you fast, the more glucose is depleted and the more lean you become.
Like a car which loses all its fuel and cannot move anymore, one will die when all his glucose is used up. When I set out from 11am to 6pm, the Lord led me through first two hours and as I thought I had to end the prayers, I had this inner conviction that, I had to continue because there is an increment in strength for those who faint. But one would ask, what at all was I telling God for that seven hours? A believer must know how to pray for long hours and he must also know how to talk to the greatest person who is God. If you don’t know how to use the power God gives you if you faint and the strength when you have no might, what do you think you are going to use that power for?
God must see you doing something important first, so that the power He gives and the strength He provides will be profitable. For God to increase you, He should see your thirst and hunger for His power for the right intention of promoting the Kingdom of God. If you show no intention of trying hard to climb the tree of life, you will never receive a push from the Holy Spirit. Imagine if I was busy tattering and breaking chicken meat and bones and sucking their marrows, I would not have had the luxury of time to fast and receive the strength required to pray for that long hours. It was because I was fasting and I was fainting that the Lord knew He had to provide me with strength.
You may be going through series of crisis in ministry that is making you faint. It seems as if there is no help coming but the Lord who increases strength and gives power will never leave you or forsake you. In this end time, you don’t have to give place to the devil to operate even if you cannot overcome your sins. Keep the fight on, keep trying to stop sinning and God who gives strength to those who cannot overcome sin will help you out. There will be countless times of thoughts that will come into your mind to return to your old self, but as a new creature there is strength in the Lord for sustaining you no matter what the weaknesses and shortcomings you are facing. The strength of God is made perfect in our weaknesses.
Prayer Diary: Lord Jesus, please provide me with power whenever I am fainting and increase my strength anytime I have no might so that I will always keep hold of my faith in you in Jesus name, Amen.
