WALKING IN THE LIGHT
David Abankwah
READ: 2 Corinthians 4:1-6
But if we WALK IN THE LIGHT, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
-1 John 1:7 | KJV
The day the earth was created, darkness was formed with it (Genesis 1:2). Though the universe was created from water, the earth was fashioned from darkness. It took the Word of God to bring light (Genesis 1:3) and the Spirit of God to bring separation between the light and the darkness (Genesis 1:2). The earth is a world of darkness from the beginning, but God demonstrated to us in Genesis 1:2-3 what we need to have so that the darkness that is in this world would not engulf us. Brethren, it is the Word of God we need to get closer to more than anything else in this world so that we will always be illuminated in righteousness in this world of darkness.
Many times, we blame Adam and Eve for eating from the forbidden tree, but because man was created out of dust, the darkness that the earth contained needed to reappear in the lives of these mortals. Adam and Eve fell even before Satan appeared. The darkness was the reason why Adam separated himself from Eve in Eden and this same darkness was what made Eve succumb to the lies of Satan. Because the body was created from dust, the deeds of darkness which are sin, iniquity, transgression and abomination will definitely manifest and wage war against the soul that wants to have the light of God.
The more you feed the flesh with the Word of God, the more the Spirit of God gets closer to you to separate the darkness in your flesh from the light that has to take hold of your soul so that you can shine in the fullness of the light of God and the more difficult Satan can overcome you. This is because anywhere light shines, darkness cannot stay. But the sad news is that, there are some believers who have their bulbs alright, but the filament which is supposed to glow when electricity passes through it, is spoilt. One of the works of the kingdom of darkness is for them to see the light of the believer disappear and make darkness reappear.
Walking in the light is living a life of righteousness. Everywhere you are, you must demonstrate good deeds for all to see who you are. Sometimes if you are not bold enough to declare your Christianity, those who are around you will make you sin. Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego had to walk in the light of God’s Word in Babylon by declaring their faith in God and obeying to serve the One and Only True God in the midst of sevenfold fire intensity. Daniel too had to let his light shine before King Darius even in the midst of temptation of the lions’ den. Walking in the light will attract many temptations but make sure you stand as a son or daughter of the light.
Prayer Diary: Lord Jesus, as you are the light of the world, deliver me from any known and hidden darkness in my life and help me walk in every good deed of light in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
