TONGUE POWER
David Abankwah
READ: Matthew 12:37

And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell.
-James 3:6 | KJV

I once heard a story of a certain young woman who was not able to marry for years. The guys
would propose to her and set a date for the marriage and all that, but three months to the marriage, then, the guys would then quit. It had been going on for years and she couldn’t understand what was going on at all. All this while she had been staying in abroad and decided to touch down. God being so good, she met a Minister of God who through him the secret of her dilemma was revealed. She got to know that, when she was an infant, she did something wrong and her mother insulted her that her face was like a bull.

When she said that, there were evil spirits around who took the matter up. They worked on it and made sure her face stayed as her mother had pronounced. The evil spirits didn’t realise the mother was joking or whatever but every word that people speak are taken up seriously in the spirit. This made her realise what Jesus Christ said in Matthew 12:37 that: For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be CONDEMNED. Matthew 12:37 KJV. The word of God became alive to her than she had expected. The words that her mummy spoke into her life some time ago was now condemning her marriage big time.

The reason why the men were quitting the marriage was that, they were being chased down by a bull and when they were caught, the bull’s face changes into the face of the lady. The man of God prayed for her and declared words of blessings and successful marriage and in no time, she got married. I want to appeal to you that, there is power in the tongue. Don’t use it anyhow. There are certain believers who are fond of saying bad things about their lives and ministries. They are not fond in the declaration of strength to do their works of salvation. They are not fond in speaking positive things at all but always negative things and destructive criticisms always.

To them there can’t be any good thing that can be done. Such people avoid! When we are provoked we should be careful how we choose our words. The words of leaders or authoritarians carry power and weight in the realms of spirituality. Don’t invoke curses into your life by the deeds of disloyalty. When mothers curse their children, the fathers can revoke it, but when fathers curse their children, it is only the Lord can can revoke it, because He is the head over man. Don’t play jokes with fathers. No matter who you are, you need the blessings of your parents especially your father. The tongue carries power, know how to use it well. God bless you.

Prayer Diary: Lift up prayers for patience to stay cool when you are under pressure so that you don’t utter any word of condemnation. Declare words of blessings upon the people you have spoken destructive words over their lives especially the ones behind their backs.
