EAGLE CHRISTIAN

READ: Zephaniah 3:8
But they that WAIT UPON THE LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as EAGLES; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
-Isaiah 40:31 | KJV
Eagle is one of the symbols of God. This is because around the throne of God, the four living creatures who are very close to God have four faces: the face of an eagle, lion, an ox and a man. There are many animals the Lord could have made the faces of these four living creatures from but He chose only three of them. That tells you these animals are not ordinary. Because God has eagle qualities, when His Son Jesus Christ came, He exhibited the same traits for us to see. As God’s children too, we are being trained by God to become just like Him. We don’t have to become a vulture, an ostrich, a crow or any type of bird but rather an eagle – the king of all birds.
As Christians we are royal people, a holy nation and peculiar people (1 Peter 2:9). We shouldn’t wander about like sheep without Shepherd and feed on crumbs as if we don’t have a Provider. We shouldn’t allow ourselves to be overcome by the preys of sin and iniquity which should have been the other way round because we are predators over such things as eagles. Sometimes when God looks down and sees His children being molested by small birds we could have had control over, it becomes a great pity to Him. There is power in waiting, that is why Jesus Christ had to wait upon the Father in His daily quiet times. After the day’s work, He had to wait upon the Lord to renew His strength through prayers.
Among all birds of the air, eagles are the fastest and most powerful birds the Lord created. When it reproduces, no one dare go near them and that is how God protects His children. God spreads His wings over us like an eagle. The strength of an eagle is so amazing that, it can lift up things heavier than itself. The strength of an eagle is likened to the strength of God who is the Holy Spirit (Acts 1:8). Eagles are noted to be the best visionaries among all birds. They can spot a prey from a very far distance, fly in and catch it without a miss. This makes them very purposeful and when the females are looking for a partner, they look out for a male like herself. Yeah an allos (thus after her kind).
She doesn’t want a man without vision or purpose who is only interested in sex and nothing else. But one dramatic thing about eagles is their tremendous ability, capability and capacity to WAIT. When an eagle misses a prey, it knows that it has become weak. It doesn’t need a crow to approach him and say, ‘Brother eagle, you are becoming weak, so you have to pray or read your Bible or fast.’ The eagle finds a secret place to dwell. It sheds off its weak feathers, wings, beak and claws and then wait for days to renew its strength. After the waiting, the eagle becomes stronger than what it was before. There is indeed strength in waiting!
Prayer Diary: Lift up prayers for the enormous heart of patience to wait upon the Lord. Ask God to deliver you from the spirit of fidgeting and murmuring during waiting hours in Jesus name, Amen
