SEED SOWING
David Abankwah
READ: Matthew 13:24-30
But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully.
-2 Corinthians 9:6 | KJV
Life and ministry are all about seed sowing. When God wanted to create the universe, He first sowed the seed of time. Before creation, God was living in an unlimited time called eternity, thus He existed yesterday (before creation), today (after creation and present till the universe will be destroyed) and forever (eternity in New Jerusalem). The Scripture makes it clear in Psalms 90:2 that from eternity to eternity, He was God. Even before creation that God was living in an unlimited time frame, His faithful love was directed towards those who would fear Him some time to come when He will plant them as seeds and His righteousness toward their descendants also (Psalms 103:17).
When God’s timing was due, He knew He had to sow the seeds of creation. He first sowed the seeds of the heaven and the earth and all its fullness. The seeds God sown all came from His words. God didn’t bypass His Word – as the Ultimate seed through which all other seeds can be found from (John 1:3). The Word of God is a pillar that holds everything in place and keeps everything in store (2 Peter 3:7).The word of God is the seed that never perishes. Finally God had to plant man as a seed in the Garden of Eden for his purpose of working and keeping it. Because man was a seed planted by God, He was expecting man him to produce good fruits.
God was waiting to reap some good fruits of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control from man (Galatians 5:22-23). God had time to prepare man with every area of his body as potential branches of faithfulness. Your eyes, hands, feet, tongue, ears, mind and all that are all seeds that needs to grow and get ripe so that they can be harvested (Revelation 14:14-19). Our bodies are not our own to use them the way we want. We have to cultivate our seeds well, so that we can get bountiful harvest for our Lord Jesus Christ. Every talent or gift you have in life or ministry is a seed God has given to you to work and get fruits out of it.
If you don’t prepare the land well, plant the seeds, water them, and watch over it to grow, you can never be fruitful the way God expects you to be. The lives we live are all seeds we are sowing. If you sow attention, care, love, forgiveness, bountifully, loyalty, and good traits in the lives of people, you will reap the same fruits. It is said that, whatever you give to a woman, she will take it, she will multiply it and give it back to you. So imagine giving a woman the seeds of stress, cheating, mistrust and rudeness, expect to have hell on earth. Whatever lives we are living as seeds we are sowing, whether bountifully or sparingly are the results we are definitely going to have in return.
Prayer Diary: Lift up prayers to sow bountiful seeds of good life and Godliness so even your descendants can benefit from your legacy.
