GRACE OF GOD
David Abankwah
READ: 1 Corinthians 3:10-15
¹¹For the GRACE OF GOD that brings salvation has appeared to all men,¹²teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age,
-Titus 2:11-12 | NKJV
There is this jargon, jingle and a chorus being said and sang on the lips of many believers of this age, that we will be saved by grace and for this reason, they don’t put in any effort to change their old ways and walk in righteousness. You might have repented to be a believer but to be a Christian, you should be transformed or converted to become a righteous person (see repentance and conversion in Acts 3:19). This is what makes Christianity very challenging.
Many will tell you they are born again but they are still living in sin. Some can even tell you that too much of everything (thus too much righteousness and holiness) is bad. Going to church everyday doesn’t make you a Christian! We will be saved by grace and not of works! Once saved is forever saved! Some Pastors teach that, the day you took Jesus Christ as your Lord and Master was the same day you became a Christian. If confession is what makes someone a Christian, then going to heaven will be easier.
But in reality, it is not as easy as it seems. The road that leads to New Jerusalem is a very tough one (Matthew 7:14). Jesus Christ came to lay the foundation for us and has given us the grace to sets us free from our old sins. After the day of your confession, you are now coming to practise the works of the faith (see transformed by the renewing of your mind in Romans 12:2 and crucifixion of the fleshy desires and passions in Galatians 5:24).
The grace of God does not teach us to live in sin (Galatians 6:1, 15) but teaches us to deny ungodliness and worldly lusts. The grace of God teaches us to also live in righteousness, soberness and Godliness. Today many believers have been abusing the word grace because they use it as an armour of sin. The Grace of God has already done His work on the cross for our sins 2000 years ago. The onus lies on us to make our ways right.

Lift up prayers and thank God for the grace He has given to you on the cross. Pray for the strength to workout your own salvation with fear and trembling in the name of Jesus Christ.
