LOVING OUR ENEMIES
David Abankwah
READ: Matthew 5:43-48
But LOVE YE YOUR ENEMIES, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil.
-Luke 6:35 | KJV
All Scripture is inspired by God but the words of Jesus Christ should be carefully looked upon by a hand lens. This is because God has handed the judgement to His Son Jesus Christ (John 5:22). We should therefore appear before the judgement seat of Jesus Christ and not God and everything we have done in this world whether good or bad will be judged by the Son (2 Corinthians 5:10). Therefore we ought to honour the Son and take His words into full consideration (John 5:23).
One of the teachings of Jesus Christ is that, we should love our enemies. We should bless those who curse us. We should do good to those who hate us. We should pray for those who spitefully use us and persecute us (Matthew 5:44). But the question we have to ask ourselves is that: How many believers in this end time carry out this commandment? We often think when we don’t steal, kill, fornicate or lie we are holy but when we fail to carry out what we have to do as our duty, we have sinned too.
There are two modes of sin: Sin of omission (a sin committed for carrying out what God has told us not to do such as fornication, lying etc) and sin of commission (a sin committed for failure to carry out a certain duty such as failure to pray without ceasing, loving your enemies etc). When you hear certain prayers of believers you will know that they have not repented. Prayers of destruction is more than prayers of construction. Instead of lifting constructive prayers for our physical enemies to have a change of mind, we tend to kill them rather.
Many of us are so corrupt that, we can’t give and be given just because we fear that they will work against us spiritually. We fear witches more than the Spirit of God yet we say greater is He that is in us than he that is in the world. It will shock you that even the ones many believers love, they tend to have issues with, how much more those they are not in good terms with? Until we learn how to curb our pride and fear to carry out love for our enemies we can’t be the children of God (Luke 6:35) and can no where nearer perfection (Matthew 5:48).

Lift up prayers for the heart full of agape love to carry out the love for your enemies; to bless those who curse you; to do good to those who hate you; to pray for those who spitefully use and persecute you in Jesus name.
