IMMANUEL

READ: Matthew 18:20

Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name IMMANUEL.
-Isaiah 7:14 | NKJV

Many times when we read the prophecy about Jesus Christ concerning His birth, we become enthused about a certain virgin through whom the Messiah was born. There are a lot of processes that happened before God came to live to us thus Immanuel (God with us). Before Jesus Christ came to live among us, He first had to deny Himself. We are entreated to deny ourselves and take up our crosses (Luke 9:23), but Jesus Christ had to set that example for us first.

Though He was in the form of God, He had to deny Himself of being a God but had to take up His cross of being a servant (Philippians 2:6). That cross of humility converted Him from the Godhead into a human being. How many Presidents, kings or rulers can do this? How many Authoritarians can humble themselves to be at par with their subordinates? Leadership is not about pride but about humility. Leadership is not only about being superior but about being inferior.

It doesn’t show you are weak but it shows you are matured! Many men because the Bible says they are the head do not respect their wives. They think being a head is all about giving commands and expecting the house to respond, but how many husbands subject themselves to the law of love that God entreated them to (Ephesians 5:25)? Jesus Christ being the head over the church had to subject Himself into the womb of a woman. I want you to give a clap for our Lord Jesus Christ for going through this process for our salvation.

No one can be impregnable to the Word of God if he is not a virgin. A virgin in the Lord is someone who is a saint. Sinners can quote the Word but they can’t conceive the Word. Without the sign of the Holy Spirit in you, you can never experience Immanuel. Immanuel still exist in our time but it is not everyone the Lord can be with him. Before the ascension of Jesus Christ, He gave the promise of being Immanuel in Matthew 28:20 by saying: …lo, I AM WITH YOU ALWAYS, even to the end of the age.” Amen.
