RECKONING DIVINITY
David Abankwah
READ: Romans 1:20
When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, The moon and the stars, which You have ordained,
-Psalms 8:3 | NKJV
To consider or reckon is to: ¹to think about (something or someone) carefully especially in order to make a choice or decision; ²to think about (something that is important in understanding something or in making a decision or judgment); ³to think about (a person or a person’s feelings) before you do something in order to avoid making someone upset, angry, etc. For us to know God well, He has set the universe in place for us to connect with Him though reckoning. There are various lessons we can learn about God in every creature.
King David sat down one time in his kingdom and began to reckon or consider nature. As he set his eyes into the skies, he saw the heavens. David’s thought about the heavens became so relevant to him that, he began to find more about what he had seen. In that case, God too gave him understanding as to how the heavens and all its planets were made. David became so amazed that, no pillar held the sky in place, yet, for all the times he had existed, the sky and the moon fallen on him before. After reckoning the sky, David was getting nearer to God.
He understood that, it was the fingers of God that wrought the works of the heavens. He also became aware that, the moon and the stars exist because it is God who had ordained them. Without any reckoning, David would have thought like Atheists who say there is no God. Probably David would have thought like some scientists who believe the creator of the universe is the Big Bang. If we reckon nature, we will certainly know that the things that exist, did not appear accidentally. If artificial things do not exist accidentally but manufactured, the universe also has a Creator.
Until you reckon nature, you will never know who the Creator of the universe is. If we carefully consider the universe, we will know we are here to fulfil a purpose. No creature was made by God to exist without a purpose. Until we reckon the handiworks of God which will make us discover many mysteries about God, we may take things lightly and live our lives anyhow. It is the will of God that things exist and that they were created (Revelation 4:11). The more you reckon what the Lord had created, the more knowledgeable you become, wise as to how the things were done and understanding as to how things were created.

Lift up prayers for knowledge, wisdom, understanding as you get close to God by reckoning about the things He had created in the name of Jesus Christ.
