ENDURANCE
David Abankwah
READ: 2 Timothy 4:5
For you have need of ENDURANCE, so that after you have done the will of God, you may receive the promise:
-Hebrews 10:36 | NKJV
I used to have a very bad temper because I am both a stammerer and a choleric person. In my teens, I didn’t engage myself in lots of things because when I lost my temper, I became very nasty and those who were around me had to endure my presence. Even though I was a believer, I was always struggling with this temperament until God prepared me to meet a Minister of God who through constant advice and prayer, I was able to control myself for a while, yet, it was not completely gone. The next stage in my life was another test of time…..
In my early twenties, I had the opportunity to stay with one of my Aunties and I believe that was a turning point in my life. The training I went through her, emptied me from all provocations. You may not understand your struggles or hardships in life but some day you will. God prepares His children through hardships. It is part of the journey of the eternal life you are embarking upon. When you are going through such hardships, don’t ask God why. Joseph never asked God why he had to endure the illmannered treatments of his brothers. He had to endure the pit.
He had to endure the slavery. He had to endure servanthood. He had to endure prison. Until God had prepared him through endurance, He knew Joseph was not ready enough to rule the Egyptians. Endurance is the will of God you have to go through. Believer, endurance is not there to unmake you. It is rather there to make you! Christianity without endurance is a free lunch. Having eternal life does not come on a silver platter. Until you have been baptised with the baptism of persecution, you can’t have the most previous gift of all eternity – eternal life.
For more than three years I had to endure under my Auntie for my temperament to be curtailed. The sufferings I had to be under was so hectic that sometimes it seemed it would not be over. Don’t ask a way out. Ask God to prepare you through endurance. There are certain sins you can’t overcome if you are unable to pass the test of endurance. A boxer who is able to stand in a ring for 12 rounds is most likely to be crowned not the one who threw in the towel around round 5. Coward believers seek for prosperity and not the sufferings of Christianity.

Lift up prayers for the ability and strength to keep you standing even in the midst of all endurance in the name of Jesus Christ.
