NOT ASHAMED
David Abankwah
READ: Acts 5:41
Yet if anyone suffers as a Christian, let him not be ashamed, but let him glorify God in this matter.
-I Peter 4:16 | NKJV
God is a dual Creator – meaning He created things in twos. He is the One who created male and female, sea and land, rich and the poor, situations and solutions, shame and glory. He knew that the things He created was good. It was good to have created poor people and it was equally good to have created rich people too. Sometimes when we go through series of situations, we have a certain feeling that God is not with us or probably we have done some things wrongly. Situations are meant to come whether you know God or not.
It is the worldly people who develop a feeling of shame anytime they go through sufferings. But what 1 Peter 4:16 is entreating us here is rather glorification anytime one suffers as a Christian. Peace doesn’t come until you have fought a war. There are so many attacks or onslaught from the devil that you don’t know of. Sometimes God wants you to go through some, so you will not be complacent with your walk with God. If eternal life is made to be on a silver platter, then you can live anyhow and still make it there. But that is not the case!
Today’s generation doesn’t want to pay the price and suffer, yet, many want to be successful. No wonder blood money and all kinds of shortcuts form of success are on their apogees. A certain young man wanted to use her mother for blood money and he was told he had to use a certain cloth to cover her when she was asleep so when she dies, his money would come. That night, because the mother was a Christian, she was led by the Spirit to pray that night. Upon continual waiting, the child rested for a while in wait for the mother to sleep.
Not knowing he was asleep deeply. When the mother finished the prayers, she took the same cloth to cover her child thinking he was feeling cold. That morning the mother woke up and found his son dead. Upon further investigation into the matter led to her knowing that his own son wanted to use her for a ritual. If you can’t suffer for anything in life and think life is all about shortcuts, you can’t serve God well. God knows us more than we know ourselves. It is only situations in Christianity that will separate the boys (believers) from the men (Christians).

Lift up prayers for the feeling of joy to be counted worthy among those who suffer for the name of Jesus Christ and not to be ashamed of His sufferings in the name of Jesus Christ.
