DIVINE STRONGHOLD

The Lord is good, a STRONGHOLD in the day of trouble; And He knows those who trust in Him.

A stronghold is a fortified place, place of survival or a place dominated by a particular group of people. In my country Ghana, we often hear ‘stronghold’ quiet frequently anytime there is a presidential election. For parliamentary election, the stronghold doesn’t really matter, because there is a likelihood that, any party can get it, because the citizens don’t really pay much attention to that one than the presidential seat. You will see in the stronghold of party A, party B is rather getting more parliamentary seats.
Since the power is mainly handled by the President to control the affairs of the country, there have been regions, tribes, tongues, or certain category of people who are fully oriented towards party and are partially oriented towards good policies. To them, whether or not good or sounding manifestos are presented, they are not moved at all. What they know is that, they are party A members because where they hail from is a party A family. To overcome such people with that ‘I was born into such and such party family’ kind of mentality, is a very difficult for you as an opposing party.
Sometimes surprises do happen concerning places where we normally think party A should have had more presidential votes. This shows that the stronghold of men is shaky but I want to witness a certain stronghold to you which is immovable. This is the divine stronghold. The name of the Lord itself is a strong tower. The righteous runs into it and is safe. You can’t hide from your enemy in the stronghold of God and still find yourself exposed. You can’t be in God’s stronghold and still find defeat. There is no surprise in abiding in the stronghold of God. He is not man that He will change His mind about those who trust in Him.
From Genesis to Revelation, He had not failed and He will never fail in our time. He was faithful then. He is also faithful now. Forever He will be faithful too. He has been a God a long time and He is still God. Nothing is going to defeat Him because He is indomitable. There are perilous times that come in the life of the believer, yet we must not fret or lose hope. In these end times, many people and things will try to make our love wax cold, but faith is what we need to have in the Lord’s secret place and we will survive under His shadow (Psalm 91:1).
