MIRROR IMAGES
David Abankwah
READ: James 1:22-24
But we all, with unveiled face, BEHOLDING AS IN A MIRROR THE GLORY OF THE LORD, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.
-II Corinthians 3:18 | NKJV
A mirror image is something that has its parts reversely arranged in comparison with another similar thing or that is reversed with reference to an intervening axis or plane or someone who is the direct opposite of another. James 1:23 gives us a clearer perspective of someone who has a mirror image feature. When you stand before a mirror, the image you see is a direct opposite to the object. Even though the object and the image look alike, they are opposite to each other. The right hand becomes the left and vice versa. The left leg becomes the right and vice versa.
The Word was part of the Trinity that created man. The main image how man was created was not fashioned according to the template of animals otherwise we would have behaved like animals. Man was not fashioned according to the module of plants otherwise man would have behaved like plants. God fashioned man according to His image and likeness (Genesis 1:26). Image in terms of body (righteousness) and likeness in terms of soul (holiness). Because man was a direct image of God, he lived his whole life in righteousness, holiness and sanctification until Satan came into the Garden.
Satan saw that God was in the process of making sons after His one and only begotten Son – Jesus Christ who was the firstborn (Romans 8:29). All God wanted was to have man conformed to the image of His firstborn Son because God didn’t see angels which Lucifer was also part as His sons (Hebrews 1:5). Satan took a new form, a new image, a semblance in the form of a serpent and came so he would make mirror images of God and direct images of himself in terms of character. He knew that he couldn’t change the images of men but the likeness, he could influence.
So when you see a sinner, the physical appearance is a direct image of God but the likeness or character is a mirror image of God fashioned according to the template of the nature of sin (direct image of Satan). Christians are like mirrors to the world. Sinners are watching every move of us. Like a graphic, the world is reading our headlines day in and day out. If they see the same mirror images of God or direct images of Satan as the character they are also portraying, we will lose our saltiness (Matthew 5:13). You are a mirror to the world. Don’t let sin break your glass.

Lift up prayers unto God for the grace to help you keep your mirror glass of righteousness, holiness and sanctification intact from breaking throughout all your lifetime in the name of Jesus Christ.
