LACK OF WISDOM
David Abankwah
READ: 1 Kings 3:5-14

If any of you LACKS WISDOM, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.
-James 1:5 | NKJV

Looking at James 1:5 closely, you will realise that what James was saying through the inspiration of God’s Spirit was not lack of knowledge or lack of understanding but rather lack of wisdom. Why should we ask God for wisdom and not knowledge or understanding if we lack it? The first reason why wisdom must be sought after is that it is the element that bridges the gap between knowledge and understanding. Second, wisdom is the main thing or the principal thing (Proverbs 4:7). Third wisdom is one of the branches of the Spirit of God that we have to be filled with (Exodus 28:3).

Fourth, when you request wisdom from God, understanding is added to you as a bonus (1 Kings 4:29). Fifth, when you have wisdom, you don’t have to be counselled concerning the right way you should go (Job 26:3; Proverbs 8:6). Sixth, when you have wisdom, knowledge becomes plain to you and you are able to apply what you know (Proverbs 8:9). Seventh, wisdom makes you attain physical and spiritual riches (Proverbs 8:19). Eighth, wisdom aids in leadership. Without wisdom one cannot lead well (Proverbs 8:15-16). Ninth, wisdom is the mother of all creativities (Proverbs 8:22-30).

Tenth, wisdom brings about blessings (Proverbs 8:32-34). Eleventh, wisdom brings about long life on earth and eternal life hereafter (Proverbs 8:35). Twelfth, wisdom makes one obtain favour (Proverbs 8:35). Thirteenth, godly wisdom brings righteousness, holiness and sanctification (Proverbs 8:13, 18, 20, 36). Fourteenth, wisdom brings about fruitfulness, multiplication or abundance (Proverbs 8:19). Fifteenth, wisdom makes one execute rightful judgements (Proverbs 8:20). Sixteenth, wisdom brings about happiness (1 Kings 10:8).

Seventeenth, wisdom makes teaching easier (Job 33:33). Eighteenth, the wisdom of God leads to purity, peace, gentleness, mercy, good fruits, fairness and without hypocrisy (James 3:17). Nineteenth, when you have wisdom, you become mightier in words and in deeds (Acts 7:22). Twentieth, the wisdom of God is Jesus Christ; when you have Him you will be able to live a life of righteousness, sanctification and redemption (1 Corinthians 1:30). Wisdom has many more benefits I couldn’t pen down. When someone lacks wisdom, he lacks all these unflinching benefits.
