THE DIVINE VINEYARD
David Abankwah
READ: Isaiah 5:1-7
I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.
-John 15:5 | NKJV
Typologically, Christianity is a farming of vine. The first vineyard God did, was the shadow of Christianity (house of Israel). He built His vineyard on a fruitful hill. He dug it up and cleared its stones. He then planted it with the choicest vine (chose Israel from the world and deserted Gentiles). He built a tower in its midst (by choosing Ministers to watch over the vineyard), and also made a winepress in it. As He expected it to bring forth good grapes (justice and righteousness), it rather brought forth wild grapes (sin, iniquity, abomination and transgression). God did everything to make this vineyard work, but it didn’t succeed.
Therefore He thought that, He would take away its hedge and it should be burned; and break its wall, and it shall be trampled down. He made this vineyard of Israelites lie waste. He didn’t even prune them because it was not yielding good fruit but rather briers and thorns which were unworthy of pruning. God was not even bothered to command the clouds that rain should fall on it. As all hope was lost, Jesus Christ gave Himself for the Father to plant Him as a vine. God made another vineyard and planted Jesus Christ as a seed. The seed remained in the earth for three days.
After the three days, it sprung up bearing the choicest vine with eleven branches (the disciples). Halleluyah! Before His ascension, He had given rise to 120 branches. He told His branches to wait for Him in Jerusalem because He was going into the cloud to ask the Father so He would send down rain (Holy Spirit) to help them bear good fruits. Rain came and the good fruits of love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control were seen on every branch. God was very pleased. He took upon Himself to be the vinedresser (John 15:1).
Those who abode in the vine and were bearing good fruits, He pruned them so they could bear more fruits. Those who didn’t abide in the vine and were not bearing fruit, He took them away. How long have you been a believer? How many good fruits have you been able to bear? Are you profitable in the kingdom of heaven? Are you bearing good fruits or bad ones? Anytime you bear a good fruit of Galatians 5:22-23, God prunes you through His Spirit so you can bear all the nine fruits He is looking for. If you are unable, you will be cut off, wither and used to make an unquenchable fire in the SECOND DEATH.

Lift up prayers for the grace to abide in Jesus Christ, the pruning factor and fertility in bearing all the nine fruits of the Holy Spirit and fruitfulness in bearing other branches to the vine in the name of Jesus Christ.
