DIVINE RESPONSE
David Abankwah
READ: Psalms 143:1
Hear me, O Lord , hear me, that this people may know that You are the Lord God, and that You have turned their hearts back to You again.”
-I Kings 18:37 | NKJV
How painful does it feel if the person you are communicating with is not interested in what you are saying? How does it feel to see people busily on their phones instead of them paying attention to the meeting you are holding with them? How does it feel to talk to someone who is only interested in hearing but not interested in speaking? How well do you flow with people who are always quiet when you are with them but rather express themselves when you leave their presence? How do you feel when you are communicating with a very important or great person? These are some of the spiritual occurrences when we lift up prayers.
When one prays, one does not see whether God is listening to him or not. Do we even pray the right things at the right time? One does not know whether God is interested in the prayer topic or not. What does God even feel when we are communicating with Him? Is He pleased, angry, or sad? How do we even know when God is even responding to our prayers? When you want to get answers to your prayers there is a certain approach you have to adopt. You first have to know the likes and dislikes of the One you are lifting up prayers to. You have to know the achievements of that great person too.
When you are talking to any great person, you shouldn’t bring your needs and wants at the beginning of the conversation. Sometimes don’t talk about it at all even though you need help. That is how prayer is. We first have to lift up thanksgiving prayers and talk about the successes or achievements of God which is also known as worship and praises. If it is possible, the time you should spend thanking God must be more than the time you should spend asking for things. When you are lifting up supplication prayers, you have to state what you are going to use the thing you are asking from God for.
When Prophet Elijah was lifting up prayers for fire to come down from God, he clearly stated the two reasons he needed the prayers for. He said: 1. THAT THIS PEOPLE MAY KNOW THAT YOU ARE THE LORD GOD. 2. YOU HAVE TURNED THEIR HEARTS BACK TO YOU AGAIN. You are probably praying for the Holy Spirit, what do you need Him for? You are probably praying for marriage, money, job, good health, child and what have you. No problem. What are you going to use these things for? If they will not benefit the kingdom of heaven, stop wasting your time because God won’t answer.

Lift up prayers for the groanings of the Holy Spirit to intercede for you so you can know how to pray for the right things at the right time in the name of Jesus Christ.
