PRAYER IS REPETITIVE
David Abankwah
READ: Luke 21:36
Pray without ceasing,
-I Thessalonians 5:17 | NKJV
Everything under the sun is not new. What do you think about this? Nothing is new because everything is repetitive. When God gives you a second chance to live, and you wake up, you always brush your teeth. You always wash yourself down. You always eat. You always drink. You always clothe yourself. You always go to work if you are a worker or school if you are a student. That is what spiritual things are. If you are a Christian, you always fast. You always eat New Passover or Communion. You always read, study or meditate on God’s Word. You always fellowship with others. You always evangelise and win souls.
So it is with prayer. Prayer is also repetitive. As you bath and you don’t feel it to be monotonous, so prayer should not be boring or monotonous to you. As you eat and you don’t feel you have ate enough but still eat three square meals everyday with snacks in between so you must pray more than three times a day. Daniel was a Prime Minister, yet, he prayed three times a day. He was as busy as anyone, yet he still prayed. Are you busier than a Prime Minister who is responsible for the life of every citizen? Even your small family you can’t rule them well, how can you speak against the government? If you can’t rule your small empire how can you rule over God’s sheep?
Even your small business you can’t handle all your workers well, how can you blame God for not answering your prayers? See the people who are all over the world. If all of us pray to God now, He still has ears to listen to everyone’s prayers. God is so wonderful. He is not bored to listen to our persistent prayers. All He wants is that we don’t pray in sin (John 9:31) or we don’t pray with the wrong motives (James 4:3). If God as the offeree is not bored to listen to your repetitive prayers, why are you bored as the offeror? If you can pray always without stopping, you have to understand that prayer is repetitive!
You have to understand that prayer is repetition of thanksgiving (Matthew 6:9). You have to understand that prayer is repetition of intercessory prayers (Matthew 6:10). You have to understand that, prayer is repetition of God’s will (Matthew 6:10). You have to understand that prayer is repetition of prayers of supplication (Matthew 6:11). You have to understand that prayer is repetition of forgiveness of sins (Matthew 6:12). You have to understand that, prayer is repetition of prayers of deliverance from temptations and evil (Matthew 6:13). The Lord’s prayer contains repetitive prayer topics for every Christian. If prayers can be enjoyed by the offerer, it must be repetitive for the offeror!
