CROWN OF LIFE
David Abankwah
READ: Revelation 3:11
Blessed is the man who endures temptation; for when he has been approved, he will receive the CROWN OF LIFE which the Lord has promised to those who love Him.
-James 1:12 | NKJV
Every country or nation has its way of life or the rules that govern them. Christianity is also a nation. We have our way of life too. We are competing for a prize. The prize of a crown of life. Those who competed for the prize of Corinth trained themselves well. They didn’t do certain things as participators. If they used to drink, they didn’t do it anymore. Those who used to smoke, didn’t smoke anymore. Those who used to fornicate, stopped. They knew that these things could not make them run and achieve the prize. Their prize was a flower. That flower destroyed after a while because it withered away. For Christians, we are competing for the prize of crown of life in New Jerusalem.
We can’t run this race without taking care of ourselves, ‘Na Ahwe yie y3.’ We need to stop the worldly things so that we can run well and achieve the prize. This is because sin weighs us down making us ineffective to run well in the race of eternal life. In the race we have rules, and we must abide by them. The rules are in the Bible. We have to discipline the body so much that we shouldn’t give to it what it desires. At first that we were not a nation, we were doing things anyhow. But now we are a chosen generation, a holy nation, peculiar or special people, and royal priests. We shouldn’t commit sin, iniquity, transgression and abominations any more.
We must separate ourselves from the world. Sin is the only thing that will disqualify us from having the crown of life. Because of this, Satan has outsmarted the world with witty inventions of sin and has polished sin to the point that it makes it so pleasing to do. But we need to note that, when we draw ourselves from the things of the world, it gives us freedom and not an entanglement. Even as the second coming of Jesus Christ tarries, we should know that death is just around the corner as our finish line. Any believer who dies today and can’t tell whether he will have eternal life or not is not a Christian. Judgement is ongoing on this earth based on the life or the race we are running (John 3:19).
Salvation is a good cause. No good work is without a salary and no good cause is without an achievement. Even the world gathers to witness athletes participating for bronze, silver, and gold. They pay huge sums of money or sacrifice their time for a good cause. No one pays to witness athletes lying to themselves in the stadium. No one sacrifice his time to witness athletes committing sexual immoralities. No one pays to witness athletes committing idolatry, or any act of sin Sin is work and its only wage is death, but righteousness is also work and its wage is eternal life. Those who live in righteousness, sanctification, and holiness will be crowned with life for all eternity.

Lift up prayers for the grace and truth to lay down every weight of sin so you can run the race of eternal life well for the prize of the crown of life in the name of Jesus Christ.
Quote
Eternal life is the sole purpose why we were called. Failure to appreciate this, means you had a missed call.
