ACCUSATION
David Abankwah
READ: Revelation 12:10

When Jesus had raised Himself up and saw no one but the woman, He said to her, “Woman, where are those ACCUSERS of yours? Has no one condemned you?”
-John 8:10 | NKJV

To accuse: is to charge someone with a fault or offence: BLAME. To accuse: is to charge with an offence judicially or by a public process. On one beautiful morning, Jesus Christ thought of going to the temple to teach. When He got there, many people came to meet Him. He then sat down and begun to teach them. As He was teaching, the people who were around Him didn’t know what was coming. A major accusation case was on the way coming which would be used as a test for the Messiah to pass. The Scribes and the Pharisees had caught a woman in the act of adultery. It is not that the woman was used as a trap. The case was something that really happened.

The woman was caught in the very act. This teaches us something here. Sexual immorality is the main ground you can stand to divorce. It should not be a hearsay or suspicion but you must see your husband or wife in the act of adultery before you can divorce. Many people divorce based on gossips or rumours but they have not caught the person in the very act. Many people divorce based on accusations of sexual immorality which are baseless without concrete evidence of seeing the person in the very act. Now, the woman was brought to Jesus Christ to judge her but that was not what the Messiah came to do. The Messiah came to save but not to judge or condemn.

If He came to judge, his judgment would have began in the house of God and the Chief Priests, Pharisees, Scribes, and elders would have been condemned into the lake of fire. Jesus Christ stooped down and began to write on the floor and listed the Ten Commandments. He then straightened up and said ‘He who is without sin should cast the first stone.’ What the people who accused the adulterous woman didn’t realise is that, they were sinners like that woman. Those who accuse live in sin, but they overlook theirs and pass judgment on others. Accusers usually act in false appearance of virtue contradictory to their true self of sin. That makes many accusers potential hypocrites!

What we need to realise is that, God Himself was accused of bringing the Israelites to destroy them when the Israelites murmured against Him. Jesus Christ was also accused before Pilate and Herod by the Chief priests, elders, and Scribes (Luke 23:10; Matthew 27:12; Mark 15:3) but He said nothing. It is not when you are accused that you have to defend yourself. It will even worsen your case. Accusations are one of the schemes of Satan to make you fall into sin, bring fear or inferiority complex in you, confuse you, make you lose faith in God and man, create bitterness in you against people, and shatter your aspirations, and induce you to be an accuser too.

•| Prayer Diary |•
Lift up prayers to be delivered from the spirit of accusation that induces you to see faults in people but makes you overlook yours to solve especially concerning the works of salvation in the name of Jesus Christ.

Quote
Overcoming causeless accusations, is overcoming Satan’s highest masterpiece.
