A BLESSED PERSON
David Abankwah
READ: Matthew 5:3-12
⁷“Blessed are those whose lawless deeds are forgiven, and whose sins are covered; ⁸Blessed is the man to whom the Lord shall not impute sin.”
-Romans 4:7-8 | NKJV
We have blessing, riches, and wealth. Many times we think that those who are rich and wealthy are blessed. Blessing is only attained when you serve God. Abraham was a very wealthy person having possessions of animals and servants. The people that Abraham fed everyday was like a whole town, but God told him to leave his father’s house so He could bless him. The blessing God wanted to give him was the seed of Christ or the Word of God. That was why his name had to be changed from Abram to Abraham (ham means seed). Today many Pastors make us realise or feel that blessing is riches and wealth. It is total foolishness!
They have made us realise that, travelling to abroad, getting secular job promotions, giving birth, having many properties and what have you are signs of divine blessings. If blessing is riches and wealth, then Abraham would have been a blessed person and needed not to leave his father’s house. If God says He will bless you, it is not about money or material gains. The blessing of God is for the soul and not the body. Blessing is what you have that no one can take it away from you (Luke 10:42). If the blessings of God is riches and wealth, then it is better to be a sinner or an unbeliever because such people have those things and in abundance.
- A blessed person is someone whose lawless deeds are forgiven and whose sins are covered (Psalms 32:1). 2. A blessed person is the one to whom the Lord does not impute iniquity (Psalms 32:2). 3. A blessed person is the one who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly (Psalms 1:1). 4. A blessed person is someone who doesn’t stand in the path of sinners (Psalms 1:1). 5. A blessed person is someone who doesn’t sit in the seat of the scornful (Psalms 1:1). 6. A blessed person is someone whose delight is in the law of the Lord (Psalms 1:2). 7. A blessed person is someone who meditates on the Word of God day and night (Psalms 1:2).
- A blessed person is the one in whose spirit there is no deceit (Psalms 32:2). 9. A blessed person is the one who keeps the ways of God (Proverbs 8:32). 10. A blessed person is the one who has a generous eye (Proverbs 22:9). 11. A blessed person is the one who waits patiently for God for His will to be done (Isaiah 30:18). 12. A blessed person is the one in whom the Word of God lives in that person (Luke 1:42). 13. A blessed person is the one who reads and those who hear the words of the prophecy of the Book of Revelation, and keep those things which are written in it (Revelation 1:3).
