GREATER LOVE
David Abankwah
READ: 1 John 3:16
GREATER LOVE has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.
-John 15:13 | NKJV
Every activity or endeavour is centred on love. In business, one wants to do everything to satisfy one’s customers so they can love the product one is selling or the service one is rendering. For those who invest much in customer care, making sure their customers are always treated well irrespective of all differences, reap dividends. For those who only care about their products or services thinking their customers are going to love them, always get disappointed in the long run. Failure to know what the people need and meeting those demands, always bring corporate chaos. Caring for your customers and meeting their demands, is what makes businesses a success.
Likewise in social life, one has to know the likes and dislikes of people and act accordingly. Only flowing with the good sides of people is not love. Love is when the bad sides of people are exhibited, you still have a place in your heart to make amends and continue the relationship. Also, unexpected events are going to unfold in such a relationship that, you have to apply the sacrificial part of love. Love is not only about the good feeling you have for someone but the willingness of you to sacrifice a lot for the person when it matters. Today, when someone has a good feeling about someone, the person thinks he or she is in love. Lust is just a craving or a feeling but love goes beyond lust.
Many people enter into marriages because of their feelings. The good feeling of how beautiful or handsome his or her partner is. The good feeling of how rich and wealthy his or her partner is. The good feeling of the anticipation of the good sex his or her partner can give. The good feeling of how articulatory the person can be. If you get to know the funny reasons behind many marriages in June, you won’t be surprised why they divorced in August. When Jesus Christ loved us, it was not about a certain feeling He had for us. There were four main things He had to do to prove His love. Greater love is all about losing, sacrificing, suffering, and dying.
He had to go through the phase of losing His glory, power, and deity to become a man and a commoner. He had to go through the sacrificial phase of love where He had to teach, preach, and heal. He had to give out His body to be beaten, slapped, spat upon, insulted, humiliated, and bruised so He could go through the suffering phase of love. Lastly, He had to go through the dying phase of love on the cross to save us. As Jesus Christ did this for us, He entreats us to exhibit this greater love to others. If you can love people and care for them as well, you can also exhibit the greater love of Christ to them by making sure their souls are saved (1 John 3:16).

Lift up prayers for the greater love of God to lose, sacrifice, suffer and die for the Gospel in the name of Jesus Christ.
Quote
After you have lost, sacrificed, suffered, and died, then you can say you have greater love.
