THE GRACE AFTERMATH

READ: Revelation 2:21-23

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that WHOEVER BELIEVES IN HIM SHOULD NOT PERISH BUT HAVE EVERLASTING LIFE.
-John 3:16 | NKJV

There was a certain man called Mr. Nefarious because of his wickedness. There was nothing good in him and no advice could ever change him. For that matter, everyone in the town just wished that this wicked fellow should one day be caught by the police. If wishes were like horses, this time around, the stallion gave its four horse power. The police arrested him, and he was taken to court. It was evident that the defendant would be imprisoned but his lawyer did everything he could to free him and he succeeded. His lawyer counselled the man to turn a new leaf and even gave him money to start something meaningful with his life.

Years passed, and this man didn’t heed to the advice of his lawyer but squandered the money he was given, and even lived a life worse than before. When he was caught, he thought, ‘After all, the lawyer who defended me and got me out of the grasp of prison is still there. The lawyer who was my Saviour graced me last time, so I am confident that he will defend me once again. All I will do is to pretend I am very sorry for what I had done and he will have mercy on me.’ When he was taken to court, to his surprise, the lawyer who graced him some years before, was now a judge. The defendant declared openly, ‘I know this judge. He was once my lawyer.’

The judge replied him, ‘Mr. Nefarious, I was your lawyer some years before but now my status has changed. I am no longer a lawyer but a judge. Because you did not take the grace period I gave you seriously and failed to amend your ways, you are therefore condemned into life imprisonment because there is no way you are ever going to change again.’ As it was in the life of Mr. Nefarious, so it is in our time now. Many people who have found grace through the death of the only begotten Son of God, think that this probation is going to last always. But they don’t know that after grace, there is judgement. Grace has its deadline. The deadline is either death or the Second Coming of Jesus Christ.

For Hebrews 9:27 says that, it is appointed onto men to die once and after that judgement. Even on earth, judgment is ongoing. Anyone who rejects grace or does not believe in Jesus Christ who is Grace and Light is already condemned (John 3:18-19). When you turn John 3:16 in the opposite manner, anyone who does not believe in the begotten Son of God will perish and will not have eternal life. Beyond grace, is eternal condemnation, that’s why God is warning us to repent and work out our own salvation with fear and trembling and not lean to once saved is forever saved. As you have grace now, what are you doing with it?

Lift up prayers for deliverance from complacency that makes you sinful by abusing grace instead of living a sanctified, righteous, and holy life in the name of Jesus Christ.

The aftermath of divine grace is divine grave.
