RED SEA
David Abankwah
READ: Numbers 11:4-7

But the children of Israel had walked on dry land in the midst of the sea, and the waters were a wall to them on their right hand and on their left.
-Exodus 14:29 | NKJV

After the Israelites crossed the red sea, the Lord rained manna from heaven for them so they could get physical strength to continue their journey to the promised land. The red sea is a symbol of the world. We can see that, before the Israelites were saved by God, He first called them through Moses. Before you can become a believer, it is God who has to call you. No one can come to God unless He first the person. That is why Matthew 20:16; 22:14 says that, many are called, but few are chosen. Anyone who is called, must first cross the red sea (old world) into the (new world) called Christianity. Calling is different from being chosen.

Every believer is called, but few are chosen to fill the seats of the five-fold ministry. When God called Abraham, He told him to leave his father’s family which was his red sea. When God calls you, it is not that, you weren’t doing something important or you were insignificant. What you used to do was something that may have profited you carnally, but the call of God is a profit you will have spiritually. Abraham was already established. He was a very wealthy man. He had many servants. He had livestock. Yet, His call was far more greater than just servants or livestock or physical wealthiness. The call of God shouldn’t be seen as an entanglement but rather, it is for our own benefit.

Abraham’s call was for his own benefit of a spiritual blessing some time to come. But when many people cross the red sea, they murmur or grumble against God. They think they are missing something from the world they left behind. When they see the lives many worldly people are living, they remember their Egypt. Many people can say that, if it is not because of Christianity, I would have done this or that. The Israelites after crossing the red sea, remembered the cucumbers, onions, melons, leeks, and garlic which in Christianity can be your former boyfriend or girlfriend; masturbation, watching of pornographic materials, betting, drinking of alcohol, smoking, or homosexuality.

It can also be gossiping, envy, hatred, selfishness, wild parties, occultism, and what have you. The Bible says in 2 Corinthians 5:17, that, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. But today, the old things are still haunting certain believers and that is what they keep doing (Romans 7:19). It is not automatic to be in Christ after you are called. There is difference between being ‘called’ and ‘being in Christ.’ To be in Christ, there is a work of working out your salvation with fear and trembling in Philippians 2:12 before. Because, there are mixed multitudes still haunting you down to bring you back into Egypt.

Lift up prayers for deliverance from any link or covenant or ties your soul has with the devil and his cohorts. Pray for strength to overcome them again anytime they pursue you again in the name of Jesus Christ.

Quote
To become a Christian, every believer has to overcome his mixed multitudes.
