LIFESAVER
David Abankwah
READ: Mark 8:35
For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will save it.
-Luke 9:24 | NKJV
A lifesaver in the context of Luke 9:24, is someone that is at once timely and effective in time of distress or need. Many people are less effective when there is danger, need, distress or crisis. What many ladies think about when there is a need, is a guy who will fund her even if it goes to the extent of sex, they don’t mind. Shortcuts have become the sickness of this generation. Little do many people put much effort in anything, but they want to reap dividends. They don’t want to sow, but they want to reap. Pathetic! They are not interested in your absence when you were nobody but they want to enjoy your presence when you become somebody.
In Christianity, the ministry that has taken a Minister of God many years to build, young guys want to take a shorter time to get there. They are not ready to lose their lives for the office of ministry God has placed them at all. They murmur and are unfaithful with the little things, yet, they think they can save their lives and achieve bigger things. If you are someone who loves your comfort zone too much, you can’t do anything for God. God doesn’t want us to save our lives but to risk it. Risking your life can be fasting. Risking your life can be giving. Risking your life can be evangelism. Risking your life can be church attendance.
Sometimes you can be staying at a far place where there have been reports of kidnapping, murder, theft, and all kinds of wickedness, yet you have to risk your body for the benefit of the soul. The flesh is constantly looking for carnal things to please himself with, yet, you have to deny him. Sometimes you have to deny your sleep and pray at night. If I am someone who saves his life, I wouldn’t have been able to write to you everyday. Time spent doing something is like taking a risk. What if it doesn’t work? Sometimes what I think about is: what if they care less about what I am writing? What if this, and what if that?
It is risky, because it looks like you are wasting your time. It looks like you are wasting data on people who care less about what you write that will lead them into eternal life. What you want for them is not what they see it to be. That’s exactly what Jesus Christ cautioned us about. If we save our lives thinking we shouldn’t do what God says we should do, we will rather lose our lives. As a Christian, you are exposed to so many things you can’t respond to. There are temptations that will come your way but if you don’t take the risks now, you will rather face risky ones in the lake of fire. The risks you face as a Christian cannot be compared to the eternal risk.
•| Prayer Diary |•
Lift up prayers for the grace to risk your life in order to do the works of your salvation and finish them and that of others in the name of Jesus Christ.
Quote
Salvation is all about taking physical risks to avoid the eternal risk.
