THE SPIRIT-FILLED LIFE
David Abankwah
READ: Luke 4:1

And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
-Acts 2:4 | NKJV

We saw in Exodus 28:3 that certain artisans were filled with the Spirit of wisdom for certain special activities. We also saw in Exodus 31:3, that God filled a certain man by name Bezalel, the son of Uri with the Spirit of God, in wisdom, in understanding, in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship, to design artistic works, to work in gold, in silver, in bronze, in cutting jewels for setting, in carving wood, and to work in all manner of workmanship. We also saw in Exodus 35:34-35 that God also filled Aholiab, the son of Ahisamach to do all manner of work of the engraver, designer and the tapestry making, in blue, purple, scarlet thread, fine linen, and of the weaver.

What does it mean to be filled with the Spirit of God? How can I know that I am filled with the Spirit of God? What feeling can I have that can make me realise that the Spirit of God is in me? What are the manifestations of the Spirit of God in my life? Well, like a tree, the Spirit of God has seven branches. You can either be filled with the Wisdom of God to apply the Word of God, His knowledge to know how to gather the information of the spoken word and the written word, Understanding of the Scriptures to teach the Word of God as it is and not what you think it is. You can have the Spirit of Counsel to coach people and direct them toward a good course in life, Godliness, and ministry.

You can also be filled with the Spirit of might to deliver those who have been possessed by devils. You can also be filled with the Spirit of the fear of the Lord to live in sanctification, righteousness, and holiness. You can also be filled with the Spirit of Truth to speak, stand, defend the Truth, and live by Him even unto the point of death. Well, sometimes people get certain feelings when the Holy Spirit comes, but others don’t have such feelings. What is most important is the manifestations of the seven branches of the Spirit’s activities in you. To be filled with the Holy Spirit is to be filled with the seven Spirits of God.

The fruits of a Spirit-filled life are: love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. A Spirit-filled man has one wife and a Spirit-filled woman has one husband. A Spirit-filled husband loves his wife and a Spirit-filled wife submits herself to her husband. A Spirit-filled child, obeys his parents in the Lord. A Spirit-filled father does not provoke his children to anger. A Spirit-filled employee work diligently for his employer. A Spirit-filled employer is fair with his employees. A Spirit-filled Shepherd practises what he teaches his sheep. A Spirit-filled church member is not a listener, but a doer of the Word of God.
